Discussion of The Tragedy of Fatherhood: King Laius and the Politics of Paternity in the West

The Department of Classics and Mediterranean Studies and the Germanic Studies Department are co-hosting a colloquium on the book of Professor Silke-Maria Weineck’s (University of Michigan) *The Tragedy of Fatherhood: King Laius and the Politics of Paternity in the West*. The colloquium will address the main issues posed by Professor Weineck’s book: A long history of fatherhood in literature, philosophy, and political thought to produce a stunning reappraisal of the nature of power in the Western tradition.
