Majors and Minor
The Department in Germanic Studies offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts with Majors in Germanic Studies and Germanic Studies with a Business Minor, as well as the BA in the Teaching of German. A minor is offered in Germanic Studies as well.

Major in Germanic Studies
The major in Germanic Studies requires 31 hours of courses in German beyond GER 104.
These 31 hours are made up of both required and elective courses.
Major in Germanic Studies with a Business Minor
The major in Germanic Studies with a Business Minor requires 28 hours of courses in German beyond GER 104. These 28 hours are made up of both required and elective courses.
There are an additional 14 hours of required business courses to complete this degree.
Minor in Germanic Studies
The minor in Germanic Studies requires 16 hours of courses in German at the 200 level or above.
There are no required courses for the minor, although one course must be at the 300 level or above.

German 300: Writing in the Discipline Heading link
German 300 is a 1-credit course that satisfies university Writing-in-the-Discipline requirement for the Germanic Studies major. It is to be completed toward the end of the degree, but before the student’s final semester. GER 300 functions in tandem with a Germanic Studies course at the level of 215 or above, taught by a tenured or tenure-track faculty member. Read the requirements below and make arrangements with your professor at the beginning of the semester.
